The details
Every year, hundreds of bald eagles flock to the north end of Lake Coeur d’Alene. They come to us from farther north, in Canada and Alaska, as they seek milder temps for the winter ahead. Once here, they make their home in the trees above the water and they spend their days hunting the spawning Kokanee Salmon in the lake. Salmon is one of their favorite meals!
All Eagle Watching Tours will begin at the resort, where you’ll board the boat with friends, family, and other guests approximately 30 minutes before sail time. Don’t forget your coats and gloves, it’s going to be chilly!
Then you’ll make your way over water, around Tubbs Hill, out towards Wolf Lodge Bay on the northeast side of the lake. Keep your eyes open, the eagles like to swoop down on the water and throughout the trees! We recommend that you bring binoculars for this cruise because they’ll help you see more detail. You can also bring your cameras so you can try and catch a few photos/videos of these majestic birds in action!
Want to know more? Pricing and dates for the Eagle Watching Tours depend on which one you choose. Currently, CDA Cruises offers two Eagle Cruise options – value cruises and deluxe cruises. The details for these two cruise options can be found here, including dates and pricing information based on age.
