Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises is excited to announce that they are adding a sixth boat to the Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises fleet. The newest boat, named “The Shadow”, is scheduled to be operating this upcoming summer (pending retrofit schedules).
This unique vessel has an extensive history: Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises leased this boat from Finney Boatworks from 2005 to 2008. Initially, The Shadow did not have her own engines, thus she had to be towed via a tugboat or other tour boat. In 2006, Finney Boatworks made the decision to add both a pilot house and an engine – allowing her to then operate on her own.
In 2008, Finney Boatworks then sold The Shadow to the Kalispel Tribe who operated her on Flathead Lake from 2009 through 2021. In 2021, Finney Boatworks bought The Shadow back, and since then it has been stored at his property in Post Falls. Fast forward to 2023 – she’s finally back “home” on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have The Shadow back on our fleet once again”, says Carl Fus, General Manager of Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises. “We have a unique and special history with this boat, and we cannot wait to share this beautiful addition with our customers.”
The Shadow is quite similar to The Osprey and The Spirit of Coeur d’Alene – 65 feet long, 23 feet wide, with a 149-person capacity. Beginning this spring, she will endure an extensive retrofit which will get her up-to-par with the rest of our Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises fleet.

The port of call for the Shadow will be The Boardwalk Marina in front of The Coeur d’Alene Resort – alongside the other five boats within the Lake Coeur d’Alene Cruises fleet. Private charter bookings will be available for The Shadow in the coming months.
